our days are fragments
of our lives
our minutes are fragments
of our hours
our moments are fragments
of who we are

our lives begin
the moment we’re born
our fragments make up our reality
but our reality is made of the unforeseen
so our lives begin
the moment we choose to live

there’s a balance to our fragments
like the way a creek will sway
there are times when we’re meant to learn
and times we’re meant to experience
one fragment will lead to the next
and then it will all make “sense”

if we were born to live
then there’s more than filling the years
there’s a rhythm to find and a flight to catch
there’s living and failing, rising and falling
a fragment needs another to connect
but a fragment trusts another to teach

Author’s Note – if our little, tiny, everyday moments/fragments were speaking to us…which, they always are :).

  1. Ahhh so true and I love the idea of the fragments making up the whole… the idea that the whole picture will make sense someday, sometime but meanwhile we are choosing to live our lives. I love how you ponder the fragments connecting even teaching each other like in this fragment of wisdom so beautifully expressed. Your eyes are wide open Grace and you have a way of seeing the depths and the stars in such beautiful perspective. We are lucky to have you. Your pieces call us to ponder and consider and see below the surface. This is such an inspiring message dear Grace… Keep trusting that gorgeous muse of yours! 🌹

  2. How beautiful and philosophical this was, dear Grace! Indeed days, hours and these simple moments are all leading into making the life, we are living.

This reminds me of how Robert Frost has said ‘Always, always a large significance….A little thing touches a large thing.” I am always marvelled by your poetry, Grace!

It is really so amazing to think of how these little moments we are enjoying and the memories we make are taking part in adding meaning to our life. This was so wonderful to read ♥️

  3. A very thoughtful poem, Grace. All your works are so meaningful ✨️ I am just in awe with your understanding of life. This reminded me of the alchemist, where Paulo Coelho writes about the world’s greatest lie: “at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate.”
Just brilliant piece of work sister 👏 👌

  4. This is a very thoughtful and inspiring poem, Grace! I stopped a while when you said,
    our lives begin
the moment we choose to live.
It’s so true, and the the concluding two lines say it all. The beauty of every single fragment is that it supports the wholeness. So beautiful, my friend 😊💖

  5. It is much better to cherish these fragments of life for all they are, than to be crushed under the weight of a fragmented reality. I am happy to read yet another beautifully composed, insightful poem from you!😊❤
