the dancer

What if we got excited to be scared?
What if we ran towards instead of running away?
There is a joy in having dared
There is a drive to not betray

What if we relived an experience through new eyes?
What if we loved our regrets because of all they taught us to be?
Perception never lies
Regrets or just how you see

What if we opened the door instead of guarding our walls?
What if we could see the invisible aligning?
That’s where the disguise falls
The fun is in the refining

What if this is a dream we’re living in?
What if we can be lucid and change the scene?
Your reality is your own spin
You create what’s seen

What if change was just a theory yet to be proven?
What if life always went the way you envisioned?
You’d be your own illusion
You’d be internally imprisoned

What if we had no memory and only knew the now?
What if the concept of time was simply a distraction?
Memory is your teacher, but the moment will always be your vow
It is, live to the clock of inner interaction

What if I never find every answer?
You won’t, there’s a song to life – be the dancer

-Grace

    • Aww Lincol, I love how you put that…”protagonist of our own movie”. Thank you for such a kind and inspiring comment, dear friend. Your support truly means a lot 🤍🤗

  1. Wow! This is one of your best poems, Grace! I’m just mesmerised by your thoughts and imaginations. There is a saying in Hindi which means that a poet can reach where even the sun cannot reach. And you have proved that point. The twist in the end is simply superb. Well done, my friend 😊💖

  2. this made me say “yes” so many times. What if?? It’s funny I was just thinking about how everyone’s perception is truly their own absolute truth the other day. I was chatting with someone in Greece where it was morning but it was night in US. I was thinking, we each have our own truth, even though different about the sun at that moment. This comment may not make much sense, but I know you’ll get it! 😄

    • Aww thank you so much Tricia for such a uniquely thoughtful comment!!! It makes total sense to me 😊. I love this example you give about living our own truths and how different they might be, that ties into this piece so perfectly. Thank you as always for such a wonderful comment, you are the best 🤍🤗

  3. Well..I am almost at a loss for words to describe how beautifully though-out and written is this fantastic poem Grace. Every line is a gem to ponder its depth, each thought leads into another way of seeing it, the questions are so good
“What if we loved our regrets because of all they taught us to be?”
Well I say, yes “try it” and see them not as regrets but lessons we struggled with.

“What if we can be lucid and change the scene?” This is really something to work towards in our lives..Some think the term only applies to dreams but seriously..how many of us, are “Totally awake” in our lives. How many of us think we are just victims of fate? This line is very powerful and yet I believe it’s attainable…but takes time and practice. It truly is something to strive for as you point out dear Grace.

This last just blows me away:
“Memory is your teacher, but the moment will always be your vow”

We need to find that balance of living in the now but learning from our past and clearing out old roadblocks that keep us from living this moment…free of baggage.
Your last lines are so brilliant and so true..If we can learn to dance to Life’s music, its rhythms and changes, it is not necessary to understand it all intellectually..but rather let go,
and surrender to its dance. Yes!!! yes yes!!

You gave me chills and so much to think about.
I agree with KK, dear poet..this is one of your very best!!
    Congratulations!

    • OMG KARIMA!! Best comment ever!!! You are truly the BEST! I can’t even put into words how touched I am, I want to hang this on my bulletin board!!!! I am especially moved at how you answered some of my questions, you are the SWEETEST! I love what you say about being “totally awake” and “victims of fate” – that is sooooo perfectly said on many levels. And the line that blows you away…I’m smiling big because that line took me the longest to compose 😊. I’m so very grateful to you my dear dear friend, you have no idea how precious yours words are to me!!!! Thank you for always being there and for being one of my biggest supporters. You are very special to me and your feedback since the beginning has helped me and my writing evolve…truly. So much love and hugs your way 🤍🤗🤍🤗
